An innovative software testing model that differentiates itself with a social vision, Prakat Solutions utilises, amongothers, visually impaired people and citizens of Tier 2/3 cities. In conversation with co-founder, Anuradha Biswas.

ORIGINS

Though Prakat is my first official start-up,I’ve had several entrepreneurial experiences earlier. We formally founded the company in Texas in December 2009 and began limited operations in Bangalore in February 2010.Apart from the founding members, a few others like Rajnish Thakur and Satish Chandra helped firm up ideas. Our vision was to create an ecosystem backed by virtual technology solutions to enable people in smaller towns and for people with fewer options to work remotely in a distributed set up.

ELEVATOR PITCH

Prakat specialises in independent testing and other leading edge technologies like cloud computing. We provide innovative solutions in a wide range of technology domains. We focus on leveraging current generation technologies to reduce customer's capital and operational expenditure while creating higher job opportunities at a social level.

GAMEPLAN

At the core we provide end-to-end testing solutions, especially in the SMB segment globally.Prakat's approach is to tailor the service delivery to suit the type of applications. For enterprise applications, we have an in-house team. For end-user applications, we leverage a distributed common user work force, trained on an apprenticeship-based Just in time methodology, which provides a realistic end user view to our customers. We have partnered with an NGO Mitra Jyoti which focuses on training the visually impaired to do the actual tests while we provide the strategy and project management capabilities. Other user sets include different mobile users like students,bankers,nurses from Tier 2/3 cities.

THE CHALLENGES

Attempting a new model is complex and increases sales and branding cycles. We have also been cost conscious which limits our marketing capability.
